Description: |
The Sonus Switch Engineer ensures the overall operability and design of the inContact voice network. Responsibilities include ensuring that each network entity is functioning properly, reliably and efficiently and that customer traffic and services are provisioned and maintained efficiently and reliably.
Creates, reviews, analyzes, evaluates, documents and maintains inContact’s Switched and dedicated network and related telecommunications systems. Develops and tests network solutions, provides escalated support for related departments. Performs troubleshooting and design of network infrastructure. |
Duties: |

•Provisions and maintains advanced Dedicated Customer and Carrier connections
•Performs routine maintenance and grooming of network facilities
•Escalated support structure for related corporate departments
•Complex translation and design
•Disaster recovery
•Network design
•Designs, reviews, analyzes, evaluates and maintains inContact's voice network.
•Develops, tests and implements telecommunication network solutions.
•Monitors and responds to network troubles, outages, and events.
•Must be able to support a flexible schedule and on-call services.
•May be required to work nights, evenings and weekends.
•Must be able to function in a high stress environment and posses the ability to multi-task.
•Must be able to lift 50lbs.
•Must be willing to travel. |
Qualifications: |
Successful Candidates Will Have the Following Education, Experience and Skills:
•Minumum 3 years Sonus Switching experience &4 year Degree in Telecommunications or equivalent experience required
•T1, DS3, OC3, OC12 install and test
•Telecommunications wiring
•Telecommunication switch/PBX programming
•Knowledge of VOIP/SIP
•Knowledge of Windows OS and computer architecture
•Knowledge of Solaris or UNIX OS and architecture
•Conceptual understanding of TCP/IP, Routers, Switches, Hubs, Firewalls, Domains, DNS, DHCP, and Subnets
•Experience with a structured Trouble Ticket system such as Remedy or RNT
•Least cost routing network architecture
•Help Desk or Technical Customer support
•MS Excel
•UNIX experience preferred |
