Description:

Through growth and dynamic change, Woodard Cleaning & Restoration is now seeking applicants for the position of General Manager of Construction Operations. Woodard C&R is the premier provider of fire and water restoration services, including structure and contents cleaning, drying, mold and odor remediation, and reconstruction services. The General Manager of Construction Operations is responsible for providing strategic leadership to all aspects of the reconstruction service line, to include: managing project and work volume performance to the highest level of quality, efficiency, effectiveness in customer satisfaction, safety, and profitability. This position will manage growth effectively by providing consistent direction to Subcontractors, Account Representatives, Project Managers, Estimators, and the Reconstruction Production Team. This position will lead the reconstruction team to ensure every project client is a future referral source and/or repeat customer with a satisfaction level of 100%.

Duties:

The Ideal Applicant will:
*Provide strategic leadership to all aspects of the reconstruction division
*Function as a subject matter expert in reconstruction
*Provide technical expertise in setting the protocol for any type of reconstruction project
*Develop and establish standardized operational and project management practices
*Train and mentor project managers, sales staff, and reconstruction crew chiefs
*Maintain full accountability for profitability of major reconstruction projects
*Maintains ongoing project cost and schedule controls
*Improve profitability of reconstruction division
*Manage communication with subcontractors, suppliers, insurance professionals and customers
*Oversee the financial planning of the reconstruction division
*Capable of functioning as a back-up project management, to include initial contact, scoping, contact with insurance adjusters, property owners and subcontractors, oversee production, quality assurance, billing, and collection of these jobs
*Develops scopes of work estimates, permit applicants, and approval documents for reconstruction
*Assists in the review of design and construction documents
*Performs field visits to verify work progress and works with Project Managers to resolve problems
*Reports project progress company wide
*Identifies trends and develops solutions to eradicate obstacles
*Have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
*Monitors and ensures compliance with all governmental regulatory requirements
*Monitors and tracks performance of the reconstruction team members
*Maintain a positive working relations ship with all Project Managers, Dispatch, Customer Service staff and Operations managers
*Monitor service line performance against all established business goals
*Maintain and enforce a safe working environment which ensures a modification rating of less than 1.0
*Proficient in leading/directing/coaching a versatile workforce that can and will consist of full-time, part-time, temporary, and cross-functional staff, toward an efficient, effective, safe, profitable and quality outcome for every project in both local and remote environments
*Communicate by assuming 100% responsibility for effective communication with a “no-surprises” philosophy that has a constant focus on the desired outcome
*Effectively assesses reconstruction personnel and not accept anything less than 100% commitment and alignment with Woodard Core Values
*Participate in setting performance expectations – formulate expectations in conjunction with Presidential Team (one or more members) and Operations Managers in quality, productivity, sales, esprit de corps, adherence to company policy/processes, and safety, etc.
*Consistently communicate to identify needs and obstacles of staff
*Establish metrics for staff, self, service line as required
*Monitor behavior and actions of staff in regard to those metrics
*Coach to improvement (feedback from metrics, job site visits, customer feedback, etc.)
*Responsible for presenting & training staff to defined training standards (schedule and/or coordinate internal, one on one, or external training as appropriate)
*Responsible for quality of service delivery
*Manage jobs, service line to target gross margin and NIBT
*Ensure that production capacity meets demand (current and projected) – people, equipment, fleet
*Support new service line testing and roll-out
*Research, test, and recommend equipment, supplies, and processes
*Responsible for facilities, fleet, inventories of supplies and equipment
*Ensure that resources are available (competent personnel, equipment in good working order, sufficient and appropriate supplies) for meeting needs required for successful outcome of jobs
*Ensure that resources requested by project manager are available and effectively delivered
*Ensure that crews capture and record all required and appropriate information
*Support Human Resources in the hiring, coaching and termination processes as needed
*Perform administrative duties including, but not limited to time and attendance system, vacation and time off approvals, performance reviews, counseling, coaching, and exception reports
*Process all necessary paperwork in required timeline
*Other duties as required

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
*Work is performed in the field and/or at Woodard facility
*Must be reachable on a 24-hour basis unless arrangements are made in advance
*Hours may fluctuate – hours include some weekends, evening, and holidays
*Will be exposed to dust, soot, smoke, water, and black water – conditions might be dangerous to respiratory health problems (Please note Hepatitis and Tetanus vaccines are offered)
*Must be able to lift 100 pounds in front of body and overhead
*Must be able to crawl/work on hands and knees for short assignments and over a continuous period of time
*Must be able to work on a ladder with hands over head for extended periods of time
*Must be able to physically tolerate chemicals that fall within approved OSHA standards
*Must be able to squat while bearing weight
*Must possess average visual and auditory acuity
*Must be able to adapt to a rapidly changing work environment

Ideal Education/Experience
*Bachelors Degree with emphasis in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred
*10+ years of industry or related professional experience
*Expertise in basic engineering and construction principles
*Background in reconstruction, general construction, design-build and project management acumen is preferred
