Description:

Kansas City Convention & Visitors Association (KCCVA) is seeking a Services Intern. This position assists meeting and event planners with the creation and execution of successful meeting, while providing a rewarding and engaging experience.

Duties:

During this internship, you will have a chance to experience: Meetings and Conventions • Learn servicing KCCVA service standards • Generate appropriate correspondence • Finalize servicing plan with meeting planner • Plan and execute pre-convention meeting with vendors • Participate in city planning meeting • Schedule and execute visitor information program Housing • Learn KCCVA Housing software data entry • Work designated shifts in housing • Support housing dept. with data entry individual housings • Learn rooming list entry • Assist at housing help desk during convention Special Events • Learn event and sponsorship levels • Generate correspondence for sponsorship • Assist in setting meetings, appt. generation and follow-up • Serve as volunteer during event/and or supervise volunteers • Support Special Events Manager as assigned Partnership • Learn CVA partnership levels and extranet program • Assist with data entry of new members • Participate with outside extranet training • Assist with Member Benefit Review • Assist with Member/Partner Event as assigned

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate for this position is a college student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Business, Hospitality, Communications, or Journalism. Direct work or project experience in an area of focus, including the following qualifications: College Junior, Senior or Masters status. Overall GPA must meet a B average minimum, excellent verbal and written communication skills, Professional behavior, Work 20 - 30 hours per week for 6 weeks to 3 months.
